Frat Boy At the Movies: Hugo
on December 2, 2011 at 1:09 amDespite the lack of people getting shot in the face, the Martin Scorsese movie Hugo is one of his best. The cast is just amazing: Christopher Lee, Jude Law, Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen. Also, Asa Butterfield as Hugo and Chloe Grace Mortez (Hit Girl from Kick Ass) as Isabella.
Based on a novel, Hugo is an orphaned boy who, through circumstances, ends up living the a train station in Paris. Along the way, he’s trying to fix an automaton left to him by his late father. He believes there’s some kind of message in it. He meets, at the train station, George Mille who is selling wind up toys. This part of the story is based in reality. George is an important figure in film and to tell you anymore might give it away.
Anyhow, he movie has everything: drama, comedy, adventure. Normally, I go for face-shooting, explosions and boobies, but I gotta say I really enjoyed this. It was just a tad long at two hours and seven minutes. The movie starts to feel its length about 85% through. But other than that, it’s really just a beautifully made film. Even the scenery was just awesome. It really is an impressive movie. Got see it.
I give Hugo 9.5 out of 10 keggers.
