Frat Boy at the Movies: Hail, Caesar!
on February 6, 2016 at 12:36 amThe Coen Brothers are back with a movie about old time Hollywood. Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill and Newman (Wayne Knight) star. The premise: Eddie Mannix (Brolin) is a movie exec trying to keep the studio’s various secrets spilling out while keeping up production. When their star is kidnapped, he has to get him back.
A solid Coen Brothers entry, but not mind-blowing. Probably too many elements to digest in the plot, but it does come together. The ending is kinda funny, but ultimately anti-climatic. Could’ve been funnier or weirder or had more action, but still solid. I don’t know, maybe my expectations were too high. Still, worth seeing. 50/50 in a theater, but definitely by rental. The movie also includes one of the gayest scenes ever created in cinema.
I give Hail, Caesar! 7 out of 10 keggers.
