I know what you’re saying, bros. How the Hell do I keep affording to go out to eat? It’s birthday week for me, so I’m eating out way more than usual. Just FYI. Besides, it’s one of my favorite things to do.
So, I love a good burger. And while no one on the East Coast can seem to compete with the glorious meat sandwiches I experienced in L.A., there are some pretty decent stops here. Burger 21 is among them. The 21 stands for (I guess) that you can drink in this place. They have wines and beers, although I’m not sure how a wine pairs with a burger, but I was not there for that.
The Missus and I were starving. It was one of those busy days where no one wants to cook and some food better happen fast. Now I’m not opposed to Five Guys, but I needed something a little more. Gotta have a salad with my meal, so we went here. You stand in line, place your order, pay and then sit down at a table with a number and they bring you the food as it is ready. We both ordered the Tex-Mex Haystack, a basket of fries, some iced teas and house salads.
We had to get our own iced tea, which I’m fine with, bottomless glass and all. The fries came out first and they are just the best. Crispy, warm, fresh potatoes, I think. They certainly tasted that way. Our burgers were ordered medium rare and that’s just the way they came out. Quality beef that wasn’t frozen. It went down easy. The salad was decent too. Probably spring mix and premade, but good with some avocado ranch.
Afterwards, I was tempted to order the whole thing again and eat it. That’s how hungry I was. Burger 21 also offers a variety of condiments for your fries and sandwich. They also have hotdogs, milkshakes and a few chicken sandwiches.
I don’t know who manages this place, but they deserve some kind of award. They had a staff that was on the ball. They were friendly, checked on us, cleaned things— Everything you expect a staff to do. The final bill was around $35. A bit high for burgers, but I found it worth it. If you’re in the Voorhees Town Center, stop by. Now that the weather is nice, you can take advantage of the outside seating.
I give Burger 21 7.5 out of 10 keggers.
