So me and the family hit Estia for an early Mother’s Day dinner to beat the crowds.  My brother picked the place and I was a little wary.  His record for picking restaurants is mixed and I had heard a bad story about Estia when it was under different management.

Things started off with some great Greek appetizers.  The bread and humus was excellent.  Then there was a platter of pita bread with humus, red pepper humus and Tzatziki Sauce.  Finally, thinly sliced zucchini and eggplant, fried to chip-like crunchiness, served with dipping sauce.  All very tasty and the waiter was pretty good refilling my iced tea.

The entrees were a bit of a mixed bag.  Chilean sea bass came in a giant chunk, while my seared tuna was a much smaller portion.  Fortunately, I swapped out the side for the fried potatoes, which were really good.  Also, mine came with a feta cheese and spinach salad on the side.  It’s a good thing I filled up on bread though, I don’t think my dinner would’ve been enough on its own.  And I was a little surprised at the high prices (because it’s mostly seafood) and lack of classic Greek dishes.

Still, a pretty decent place, if not very exotic.  I give Estia Taverna 8 out of 10 keggers.
